Multifaceted rapper J Carlyle started writing songs at the age of 15 where he began his career off as a Grime MC. He always loved music as a child and grew up watching MTV and listening to old school dub and lovers rock where he learnt to understand the emotions behind songs from different genres. The artists he looks up to vary “as much as I love Vybz Kartel I can appreciate all good much but reggae, dancehall and R&B is where my heart is” 2020 saw J Carlyle release his debut EP “Calculating the Ifs” which has surpassed 50k streams across DSP’s, securing notable personal Spotify playlists and receiving over 10k listening per month. The single “Man of Action” started off as an 8 bar loop “but the sound just provoked me to just make a statement of intent” this went on to lend itself to the title of the single. The future for J Carlyle consists of more music spread across different genres and collaborations with his end goal to leave a positive impact in the world.

Blending his love for Dancehall and Reggae with R&B and Rap, J Carlyle delivers a culmination of harsh dancehall chat with sultry and enchanting R&B vocals which adapt to a range of different styles. In 2020, J Carlyle released his debut EP “Calculating The Ifs” featuring the smash “Say Nada” the breakthrough song which cemented his place in Northamptonshire’s Thriving music scene.
